Tips for people purchasing real estate in NSW.

You’ve secured your ideal real estate in Sydney and now you’re looking forward to moving in. You’ll need to begin making arrangements for your move, which ranges from utility connections to packing and organising moving companies for the big day – but where do you start?

You should begin by deciding what services you will need, such as truck hire, removalists, cleaners, and so on. Once the moving date is set, ensure services are booked and organised by that date.

One of the key things to organise is your utility connections and disconnections. This should be arranged two weeks before your move, as you don’t want to be left without electricity on the day you move. Ensure you prioritise this task, as it may take a few days for some connections to activate.

A task that is often overlooked or left to the last minute is notifying companies of your change of address. To avoid lost mail or late bills, it is important to contact are the Australian Post, your bank, and water, electricity and phone companies. A good tip is to have your mail redirection to your new address organised a few weeks in advance, before you have the chance to forget. Australia Post allows you to set a start date for redirection.
